Agent Orange

A veteran who served in the Republic of Vietnam between January 9, 1962 and May 7, 1975 is presumed to have been exposed to Agent Orange and other herbicides used in support of Military operations.  Read more about diseases resulting from Agent Orange exposure here.

Veteran Aid and Attendance Planning

The law firm of Lampkin, Kell, Fagras, Linson, Custer & Buehler offer Aid & Attendance planning free of charge.  Aid & Attendance is a pension benefit paid directly to a veteran (or surviving spouse) based on the criteria of wartime service, physical impairment and financial need.  For those who qualify, it assists greatly in paying for medical care at home or in a facility.

Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC)

Throughout history, our nation's veterans have trained for combat. Many of you served on the front lines and many served in critical support roles. All of you served with distinction and deserve to be compensated for your sacrifices for our country.

Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) provides tax-free monthly payments to eligible retired veterans with combat-related injuries. With CRSC you can receive an amount equal to or less than your length of service retirement pay and your VA disability compensation, if the injury is combat-related.
 
You must meet ALL of the following criteria to apply for CRSC:
 
1.  Active, Reserve, or National Guard with 20 years of creditable service, OR permanent medical retiree, OR TERA retiree.
2.  Receiving military retired pay.
3.  Have 10% or greater VA rated injury.
4.  Military retired pay is reduced by VA disability payments (VA waiver).


Missouri Military Family Relief Fund

The Missouri Military Family Relief Fund (MMFRF) provides emergency financial assistance to qualified military members and their families.  The fund is established to make Quality of Life and Medical Based Grants (QLMBG) during periods of financial hardship.  This fund is available for members and families of the Missouri National Guard and to Missouri resident members and families of a Reserve Component who have been called to active duty as a result of September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks for 30 consecutive days or more.

Private Prescriptions through VA Healthcare

A little known benefit.  If you, or you know a veteran, who is rated housebound (HB) or in need of Aid & Attendance (A&A), then you can have prescriptions written by private doctors filled through VA Healthcare Pharmacies.  Click herefor more details.


Success for Veterans Program

The Success for Veternas Program provides a smooth transition to college for veteran students.  The courses are offerred at Park University in Parkville, MO.  It is the only midwest university to receive grant money to participate in the program.  Courses offered include:
  • Orinetation to Learning and Life Skills
  • Introductions to Human Communication
  • Personal Financial Management
  • First Year Writing Seminar
  • Selected Topics in Humanities - Critical Thinking
